Chamber awards UNT art professor

The Greater Dallas Asian-American Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards luncheon Friday at the Dallas Marriott hotel in Addison. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was the speaker. He touted the state as the "premier land of opportunity." The chamber presented him with a Swarovski crystal rooster, commemorating the year of rooster and the governor's birth in the year of the rooster.

UNT to honor Tulsa graduate Don Millican

The University of North Texas Alumni Association will honor graduate Don Millican of Tulsa as part of its 2017 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards dinner Nov. 9.

Millican will receive the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award for his service and dedication to the UNT community. Millican is a CPA and CFO for George B. Kaiser and is a retired partner with Ernst & Young who spends as much time as he can championing UNT’s accounting program.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- University of North Texas College of Music jazz students, faculty and ensembles have been honored by the national jazz and blues magazine "DownBeat"with a total of eight student music and outstanding performance awards. The awards, considered the most prestigious in jazz education, will be announced in the June issue of the magazine.

UNT students win awards for broadcasting

University of North Texas students and faculty won six awards and six honorable mentions at the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts.

They competed, some as individuals and some in groups, in six categories: audio, documentary, interactive multimedia, video, scriptwriting and news.

DENTON - A number of Texoma-area residents were among University of North Texas students named to either the President’s or the Dean’s lists for the fall 2015 semester. To be named to the President’s List, undergraduates must complete at least 12 academic hours with a perfect grade point average of 4.0. For the Dean’s List, undergraduates must complete at least 12 academic hours with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9.
