Mon, Jan 5, 2015 - 10:19am

On a back wall far away from tables and chairs, two 70-inch touch-screen monitors are mounted, with a small desk between the two to place laptops and other materials.

While flashy, the set-up serves a purpose: providing a collaborative lab space for University of North Texas students to work on specific logistics projects for industry partners.

Called the Complex Logistics Systems Lab, students studying logistics — how a company stores and distributes its products and supplies — can now work with new software and technology to solve problems for companies such as Greyhound and Target.

Going for broke wins the day for UNT investment team

Tue, Dec 2, 2014 - 8:00pm

Three University of North Texas underclassmen know about laying it all on the line.

That’s how the sophomore finance majors of team GoMeanGreen beat 244 other collegiate teams in TD Ameritrade Inc.’s first “thinkorswim Challenge.”

Led by team captain Mason Hendrickson, the UNT trio parlayed $500,000 in play money into $1,565,176 after four weeks of mythical trading that used TD Ameritrade’s teaching software that syncs with real-time market activity.

Even more impressive: Half of GoMeanGreen’s final tally was posted in the final hours of the contest. That’s when Hendrickson decided to go all in to keep from...
