UNT faculty dance concert to explore identity

University of North Texas Dance Professor Mary Lynn Babcock is at the helm of the upcoming faculty concert, "Through the Narrow Door," next month. 

Student dancers perform Babcock's choreograpy, which  was developed in collaboration with UNT dance professor Whitney Geldon and set to music by UNT graduate Brittany Padilla.

Award winning playwright Moisés Kaufman to serve as UNT artist-in-residence

DENTON (UNT), Texas - Award-winning playwright and director Moisés Kaufman will serve as 2017-18 artist-in-residence for the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts at UNT, bringing in the collaborative process that he created for such plays as 'The Laramie Project.'

Kaufman will visit UNT Jan. 16-27 and April 2-13, with a public reception scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 (Friday) at UNT on the Square.

Eleven companies join Denton City Contemporary Ballet this weekend for Collage 2016: Denton Dance Festival.

The long-running festival has a simple format: Dance students share the stage with professional dancers in an evening that features modern dance, contemporary ballet and the occasional tap, jazz and hip-hop works.

Denton City Contemporary Ballet is the resident company of Denton Dance Conservatory, and artistic director Lisa Racina said the festival gives her developing students a chance to see older and professional dancers perform.

Matt Ludlam, owner of Ludlam Dramatics, will lead children through the classicTown Musicians of Bremen. Afterward, elementary school children will have a chance to create and act out their own story in the upcoming installment of Saturdays in the Gallery series at University of North Texas.
