UNT Welcomes First Quintuplets this Fall

As fall semester starts this August, the University of North Texas will see a lot of new faces, but a set of five is already standing out.

The Diaz quintuplets from Keller have all enrolled at UNT.

Admissions Executive Director Rebecca Lothringer said it is likely the first time in school history they’ve enrolled quintuplets; definitely a first in her 19 years.

Enna, George, John, Emilio and Maria Diaz were all born in July of 1996 in Houston and graduated from Keller High School last week.

The Denton school district recently announced 29 students as its Class of 2014 valedictorians and salutatorians for Denton, Guyer and Ryan high schools. The top graduates will be recognized along with their peers Friday at graduation ceremonies at the University of North Texas Coliseum, with Denton High’s graduation at 11 a.m., Guyer High at 2:30 p.m. and Ryan High at p.m.

Positive signs seen in spring enrollment

The University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University and North Central Texas College all showed drops in enrollment from the fall semester, following a national trend of lower enrollment in spring semesters.

The Denton County campuses for North Central Texas College at Corinth and Flower Mound, however, both saw growth compared to last spring semester, with enrollment up 2.2 percent in Flower Mound and half a percentage point in Corinth.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas set an enrollment record for fall 2013 with 36,221 students, an increase of 385 compared to the fall 2012’s unofficial headcount at the fall census date (12th day of classes).  This year’s enrollment numbers include a freshman class that set another new high for SAT scores, a continuing increase in the diversity of the student population, increasing numbers of continuing students, and the largest enrollment of doctoral students in UNT history.  UNT’s continuing focus on increasing the academic achievement level of the students admitted is reflected by this year’s...

Enrollment figures for fall semester released

The University of North Texas set an enrollment record this fall with 36,221 students while for the first time in more than a decade, total enrollment at Texas Woman’s University is down.

Overall, TWU has 31 fewer students than last year, but has six more at the Denton campus this year compared to 2012, with 12,422 students enrolled in Denton on the 12th day of class.

UNT added 385 students compared to last fall.
