Doug Wright, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Dallas native who graduated from Highland Park High School, will be the 2015-16 artist-in-residence for the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts at the University of North Texas. He will visit UNT three weeks this fall and two in the spring, and is working on a project about Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev, who founded the Ballets Russes.

Hundreds of writers, from students to Pulitzer Prize winners to best-selling authors, converged on Grapevine this weekend for the annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference to discuss questions central to their very profession.

Among them: What are the best ways to tell stories of poverty and inequality? Who is best equipped to be writing those stories? And, if the people you’re writing about are of a different gender, race or class, can you authentically write about their experiences?

The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism is creating  visiting business journalism professorships at the University of Georgia and the  University of North Texas.

The Reynolds visiting professors program has created 12 business journalism  professorships at 12 different schools. The program is administered by the  Reynolds Center at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of  Journalism and Mass Communication.

The inaugural conference of Practical Ecommerce, Ignite 2015, will occur in Dallas, Texas on Sept. 16 and 17. A keynote speaker at that conference is an ecommerce legend. He’s Richard Last, the creator of JCPenney.com, one of the first major retail ecommerce sites.
