Anthony Wyche has spent a whole lot of time since he arrived at North Texas this summer hunkered down in a film room.

The payoff was clear on Saturday during the Mean Green’s third scrimmage of fall practice at Apogee Stadium.

Wyche worked with UNT’s first- and second-team offenses and scored on a 16-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Mason Fine. UNT added the former Los Angeles Valley College standout to bolster a backfield that already includes standout junior Jeffrey Wilson.

That plan is playing out just as UNT hoped it would.

“Wyche had a great scrimmage brought some...

DENTON -- A long-discussed partnership between the University of North Texas and the Dallas Cowboys has been finalized, the university announced Tuesday afternoon.

The partnership will offer internship and employment opportunities for UNT students. It also gives the university the ability to advertise with the organization.

"We think [this opportunity] is very exciting, particularly given that every time the Cowboys...

North Texas picked up a commitment in women’s basketball this week.

Dejanee Terrell of Life School Oak Cliff announced that she has decided to play for the Mean Green. It’s tough to find much on girls basketball from a recruiting perspective unless the prospect is among the top 100 players nationally.

What I do know is that the 6-0 forward was a first-team all-district selection and an all-region selection as a junior.

The vote took place in a specially called teleconference.

UNT’s regents are required to approve any employment contract that exceeds $1 million for the duration of the deal.

Baker has served as Missouri’s interim atheltic director since Mack Rhoades left the school to take over as Baylor’s athletic director earlier this month. Baker was previously Missouri’s...

Some good news for North Texas slid under the radar the last day or so that I wanted to point out here on the blog. The school’s football and women’s tennis teams received public recognition awards from the NCAA for their performance on the Academic Progress Rate report.

Both programs finished in the top 10 percent of their respective sports.

It’s a fairly complicated process how the NCAA figures up the score. The bottom line is this — what the report showed is that both the UNT football and tennis teams are keeping their athletes in school and eligible.

In college athletics that’s a...
