The team Jalie Mitchell rolled out in the opener of her third season at North Texas looked a whole lot different than the one she finished last season with.

It looked different from the one she anticipated having this summer as well.

The good news for the Mean Green following an 86-52 win over Mid-America Christian is that their rebuilt roster appears to be coming together.

UNT announces multimedia rights deal with Learfield

North Texas announced a 10-year media rights partnership with Learfield, one of the premier companies in the field, on Friday.  

Learfield will manage UNT's signage, digital endeavors, corporate sponsorships, television and radio play-by-play broadcasts and coach shows.

UNT athletic director Wren Baker made the announcement in conjunction with Learfield president and CEO Greg Brown.

The deal marks the first time UNT has outsourced its multimedia rights. Joe Domingos of Learfield will manage the newly formed Mean Green Sports Properties.

North Texas coach Tony Benford vowed to shake things up after the Mean Green struggled offensively in a loss to UTA over the weekend.

That is just what Benford did heading into UNT’s game against Delaware State on Thursday.

Allante Holston moved into the starting lineup, while A.J. Lawson came off the bench. That switch and some crisp ball movement helped UNT come out of its funk in a 73-40 win over the Hornets at the Super Pit.

The North Texas men’s basketball team won’t have to wait long to find out how it stacks up against the elite teams in Conference USA this season.

UNT will face all four C-USA teams that finished with at least 23 wins a year ago in its first seven conference games this fall. The Mean Green will play five of their first seven conference games on the road after finishing 1-12 away from the Super Pit last season.

Jeremy Combs had his fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds to help North Texas beat Rice 85-74 on Saturday.
