UNT volleyball team has three named first-team All-Conference USA

Three members of the North Texas volleyball team were named to the All-Conference USA first team Wednesday, when a total of five Mean Green players were recognized by the league.

Senior middle blockers Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam joined setter Karley York on the first team. Senior outside hitter Alexis Wright was named to the second team, while Barbara Teakell was included on the all-freshman team.

The five total players UNT had selected mark a program record. 

The group helped lead UNT (26-2) to the Conference USA regular-season title. The championship is the first regular-season conference...

UNT upends UTA in thriller

North Texas secured a thrilling 25-16, 25-18, 12-25, 19-25, 15-13 victory over the visiting Texas-Arlington Mavericks on Tuesday to move to 2-3 on the season.

“We went in with a game plan tonight to isolate their shorter outside and really attack the right side with Alexis Wright,” UNT coach Andrew Palileo said. “The game plan shifted a little bit as they adjusted to Alexis, but Amanda [Chamberlain] stayed strong, and she is tough to stop when she gets going.”

The plan worked, and the Mean Green raced out to a two-set lead, outscoring the Mavericks 50-34 in the process. North Texas outhit UTA .352-.159 in those sets...
