A new era in North Texas athletics officially began on Friday, when the North Texas board of regents voted to approve Wren Baker as the school’s new athletic director.

The vote took place in a specially called teleconference.

UNT’s regents are required to approve any employment contract that exceeds $1 million for the duration of the deal.

Baker has served as Missouri’s interim atheltic director since Mack Rhoades left the school to take over as Baylor’s athletic director earlier this month. Baker was previously Missouri’s...

His bio lines up pretty well with UNT special teams coordinator Tommy Perry.

New UNT coach Seth Littrell mentioned this spring that he had a few more hires to make for off-the-field roles. This was one of them...

UNT will host TWU in an exhibition game Nov. 6 before opening the season with its first game in the WNIT at Arkansas-Little Rock on Nov. 11.

The Mean Green will host Indiana in a premier home game on Dec. 6 and face Arizona on the road Nov. 22. UNT also will travel to SMU on Nov. 30 in its second season under...

Seth Littrell forged his professional career on the football field, but his character sprang from a childhood hanging around his family’s car dealership in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Littrell learned the value of hard work under the watchful eye of his father and grandfather, who taught him how to wash cars, work the cash register and treat paying customers.

Those values stayed with Littrell as he grew into a battering ram of a college fullback at the University of Oklahoma and then developed into one of America’s premier offensive coordinators at the University of North Carolina.

Yes, football...
