Missouri will pay North Texas $1.3 million in guarantees to play in Columbia in 2021, executive associate athletic director Bryan Maggard said Tuesday. He said the contract with North Texas is being finalized.

The Tigers and Mean Green entered a one-game agreement and are scheduled to play on Oct. 16, 2021.

“They’ve been a program I’ve talked to for some time, and actually when we were trying to get the ’15 schedule finalized, they were somebody I had a lot of conversation with, and we just weren’t able to get it done,” said Maggard, who oversees the Tigers’ football scheduling. “I’ve just...

Arriving in a new country with a whole different culture isn’t what Thomas Rosenmueller remembers most about the adjustment process when he arrived at North Texas last fall.

Playing with new teammates and under the direction of a new golf coach didn’t make as much of a lasting impression, either.

Stepping off the plane from England into the blast furnace of the Texas summer for the first time?

The University of North Texas may soon become an exclusive higher education sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys football team, an unusual deal that would include sponsorship opportunities and provide student internships at the team’s headquarters.

The framework for such an arrangement is laid out in a memo included in the meeting agenda for the UNT System Board of Regents. On Thursday and Friday, the board is expected to hold a meeting at which it will consider delegating authority to negotiate the details.

No price tag has been made public, but the memo said...

One of the more challenging springs for the North Texas football team came to an end last week with the Mean Green’s annual spring game.

UNT installed a new spread offense and a revamped defense that will use a base 3-3-5 alignment, adjusted to a new coaching staff and moved a little closer toward selecting a new starting quarterback.

It was a lot to handle for new coach Seth Littrell and his players, who came away pleased with the results.

“I like the start and how we have progressed,” Littrell said after the spring game. “We learned from previous scrimmages and situations. That will give us momentum and...
