Just standing there never felt so nerve-racking for North Texas outfielder Danielle Gregory.

The junior went to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning against Baylor in the championship game of the Getterman Classic on Sunday with the score tied.

Gregory worked the count to 3-1 and was given the “take” sign by UNT coach Tracey Kee.

The former UNC offensive assistant coach is bringing in a spread offense where he promises to “let it fly,” so the Mean Green expect to have a new look in 2016.

North Texas has already signed four mid-term transfers that are all currently enrolled at the school: Senior quarterback Alec Morris (Alabama), Freshman defensive tackle Bryce English (Kansas State), offensive lineman T.J Henson (Trinity Valley CC) and...

The North Texas swimming and diving team sent its eight seniors out in style, downing Metroplex rival TCU by a score of 180-120 in Friday’s home dual meet. The Mean Green never trailed in the meet, winning each of the first 10 swimming events and winning 12 of the 16 events overall.

With the win, North Texas improves to 7-3 in dual meets this season, its best start in school history, and the seven dual-meet wins are the second-most in school history. The win over TCU was also just the fourth in 23 meetings all-time.

“We’re really happy for our seniors,” head coach Brendon Bray said. “We wanted our seniors to go out...
