Iris Anne Davis Iris Anne Davis was born, January 21, 1931 at Rosehill, TX; daughter of Thomas Shelton and Annie Mae Anderson. She received her BS degree from East Texas State University and a Master?s degree in 1954 from Texas Women?s University. She married Royce Lee Davis, May 9, 1953 in Commerce, TX. He predeceased her. She retired from the University of North Texas, December, 1989, where she had been a librarian. His parents and one sister, Jewel Furr, preceded him in death.He and Oneta Roberts were married in Wichita Falls, Texas at First United Methodist Church. A legend in Denton County jurisprudence died Saturday. J. Ray Martin, who was a County Court at Law judge from 1970 to 1986, was 91 years old. ?He was eccentric,? said lawyer Bill Trantham, who worked with Martin both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney. ?My gosh, he was a character.? Martin is survived by his wife, Lucille, and son, Lowell. The Martins lived at the Vintage retirement community in Denton for 14 years, and a memorial service will take place there for him at 3 p.m. Sunday.
