UNT names Wolf new vice president for advancement

David Wolf, executive director of individual giving at UCLA, will be the next vice president for advancement at the University of North Texas.

He is the latest hire under Neal Smatresk, who joined the university as president in February 2014 and has since made major changes to top-level administration. This makes the fourth replacement on his President’s Cabinet, which is comprised of 10 vice presidents. Two of the positions are currently filled with interim members, who are performing the job functions until permanent hires are made.

DISD: Funds approved for new school in Little Elm

Further developments have been made regarding Highway 380 and the new Denton Independent School District high school, Braswell High, which is being built in Little Elm. Also, the DISD board approved the hire of several principals and funds for the new DISD elementary school, also to be located in Little Elm.


Van Zandt hired by LEISD

The Board of Trustees approved on April 20, the recommendation to hire Ann Van Zandt as the coordinator for languages and literacy with curriculum services. Van Zandt previously served as the elementary language arts administrator for the Lewisville Independent School District for the last two years. Her experiences include various teaching roles over a 12 year period, mostly at Lewisville ISD.

Council chooses Denison candidate to be next Abilene city manager

The Abilene City Council has named its choice to be its next city manager.

Council members voted Thursday to name 39 year old Robert Hanna -- current city manager of Denison -- as the city’s top hired official.

"It's a great community," Hanna said. "I don't know why anybody wouldn't want to be a part of Abilene. It's a wonderful place to live. The people are fantastic."

Hanna has over 15 years of local government experience and has served as the city manager of Denison, Texas, since 2011. Hanna previously served as assistant city manager of Weatherford, Texas, and as city administrator of Hudson Oaks, Texas....
