Kilgore names interim city manager

The Kilgore City Council unanimously selected Plano’s assistant city manager to run the city until a full-time chief can be found, passing on two local administrators.

Mark Israelson was recommended by Strategic Government Resources, a consulting firm hired by the council in late November to run the city manager search.

The search for a city manager was launched after three-year City Manager Scott Sellers announced plans to leave at the end of the year to take the top post in the booming Central Texas city of Kyle.

The selection of Israelson, who began with the city of Plano in 1999, came as a surprise.


North Texas hires Chris Cosh as DC

At the end of the 2014 season, John Skladany retired as North Texas’ defensive coordinator.  A couple of weeks later, Dan McCarney has his replacement as UNT announced that Chris Cosh has been hire to take over the Mean Green defense.

Cosh spent the 2014 season as the University of Buffalo’s defensive line coach.

“Chris has a tremendous blend of experience and success and comes highly recommended by some of the most respected football coaches at both the collegiate and professional levels,” the head coach said in a statement...

AC names vice president of academic affairs finalists 

Amarillo College has selected two finalists for the position of vice president of academic affairs, and the candidates will make presentations during campus forums next week.

Barbara Buchanan will speak at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Oak Room on the second floor of the College Union Building on AC’s Washington Street campus.

Most recently, Buchanan served as vice president of instruction at Paris Junior College.

Gilcrease named Superintendent of Alvin ISD

During a special meeting of the Alvin ISD Board on Monday, November 24, Trustees unanimously approved Dr. James Buck Gilcrease as the superintendent of schools. Trustees were able to officially name Dr.

Gilcrease as the superintendent, this evening, following the legally required 21-day lone finalist waiting period.

Following an exhaustive statewide search, Trustees remain confident that Dr. Gilcrease, the former Region 12 Superintendent of the Year, possesses the skills, qualities and vision needed to lead the growing district, which currently serves 20,885 students.
