UNLV is still not on the coveted list of top research institutions commonly known as Tier-1 by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

DENTON, Texas (AP) — A few minutes after Seth Littrell slipped on a North Texas cap and thanked a long list of people for helping him be in position for his first head coaching job, he started talking about his plans for the offense.

"We're going to run the triple option," Littrell said.

As laughter filled the club area in the stadium where Littrell was being formally introduced Monday, athletic director Rick Villarreal said, "Let's start this press conference over."

DENTON - Every step Seth Littrell made while pursuing his dream of becoming a head coach took him a little father from home over the last few years.

The Muskogee, Oklahoma, native and former Oklahoma running back worked as an assistant at Arizona, Indiana and finally North Carolina before North Texas stepped in.

Lease signed for UNT Frisco

The University of North Texas will pay nearly $1 million next year to rent space for a new satellite campus in Frisco, set to open in January.

According to the lease agreement obtained by the Denton Record-Chronicle, the 36,600 square feet of office space will cost $25.50 a square foot, and each year until June 2021 the rent will go up by 50 cents per square foot. Next year, the university will pay about $933,300, and for the final year of the lease, from mid-2020 to mid-2021, UNT will pay just over $1 million.

McNatts give University of North Texas $2.61 million

Jim and Linda McNatt of Corinth have given $2.61 million in grants to the University of North Texas to support academic and athletic initiatives.

The gifts include $1.36 million to establish endowments for logistics research, autism studies and the Kuehne Speaker Series and to fund grants to National Merit Scholars. The other $1.25 million will be used to enhance Mean Green Athletics.

Some of the grants are eligible for matching funds from Texas, which could augment the donations by $790,000, according to university officials.
