Aviation camp exposing high schoolers to aviation careers takes wing through UNT-TCC partnership

From studying aerodynamics and meteorology to calculating fuel plans to actually flying an airplane, local 11th- and 12th-grade students will explore the possibilities in aviation and aerospace careers at the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy Program, June 15-19 (Monday – Friday) in Fort Worth. The Federal Aviation Administration co-sponsors the hands-on camp and will bring it to North Texas through a new collaboration between the University of North Texas and Tarrant County College.

Last fall, University of North Texas undergraduate Darla Ray competed in a dance tournament. The dance-off among teams representing campus dorms was a part of the school’s “Yell Like Hell” homecoming festivities, a series of skits, dances, and live music performances hosted by the school’s chapter of the Progressive Black Student Organization.

Texas student body presidents ask Abbott to reject campus carry

In a letter signed by 12 other Texas university presidents, Student Association President Jazz Silva called for Texas Governor Greg Abbott to not sign Senate Bill 11, which would allow licensed Texans to carry concealed handguns on college campuses statewide, including at Rice. Abbott has previously said he will sign the measure into law.
