New college track teammates accept Jaron Thomas and his painted nails

DENTON, Texas — After four years competing at the University of Colorado, Jaron Thomas graduated and possessed one remaining season of indoor track and field eligibility.

Rather than wait to start his doctoral program at the University of North Texas and spend another year in Boulder, Colorado, he is finishing his athletic career in Denton, Texas.

UNT to begin construction on new $13.6M soccer, track and field stadium

UNT plans to begin construction on a new soccer and track and field stadium on its Denton campus, which will give Mean Green athletes an upgraded platform for competition.

The $13.6 million facility will include a sand-based soccer field, an eight-lane track and enough seating for 1,500 fans. The facility is expected to give UNT the opportunity to host Conference USA championships, among other events.

It’s said that adverse situations can bring out the best in us. That was without question the case last Thursday evening when, even as the skies opened up, more than 1,500 runners turned up — in more ways than one — at the 2nd Annual Mavs Run This Town 5K, presented by Baylor Emergency Medical Centers. Proceeds benefit the Mavs Foundation.
