The University of North Texas and Texas Christian University plan to open a medical school together in Fort Worth, according to sources.

The project, which has not been confirmed by either university, would be the second training facility for doctors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since 1943, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas has been the region’s only medical school.

Several sources familiar with the negotiations who did not have permission to comment told The Dallas Morning News on Thursday that the money to develop the school would come from TCU and the know-how to operate the medical facility...

People 2015: Mark Schectman, Dallas Music's Radio Evangelist
Archived

Mark Schectman doesn’t look like much of an evangelist. As he goes through a stack of CDs mailed to him by bands and publicists begging for airtime, he looks like a giddy kid surveying his Christmas score. But relentless positivity is just what Schectman, host of Sportsradio 1310’s The Local Ticket, is about.

Any day now, construction crews will tear down the large Sack & Save sign that is visible from Interstate 35E in Denton and begin taking 40 percent of the parking lot for the ongoing highway expansion project.

By the end of the month, a deal will close signing the building over from Shelton’s current landlord, Remington Partners, to the University of North Texas.
