North Texas coach Jalie Mitchell saw an opportunity coming after a tough loss to Indiana on Tuesday.

The Mean Green had three games remaining before the opening of Conference USA play, a series that offered the opportunity to pick up a little steam.

UNT took the first step toward reaching that goal on Saturday in the form of an 84-61 win against Incarnate Word at the Super Pit.

UNT’s Goodhart ruled eligible for this season

The North Texas women’s basketball team received some good news Monday when it found out transfer guard Grace Goodhart will be eligible this season.

The status of fellow transfer Stabresa McDaniel is still in doubt after she was injured Sunday in an exhibition win against TWU.

Goodhart was named to the Missouri Valley Conference’s All-Freshman team after hitting 40 3-pointers and averaging 6.6 points per game in the 2015-16 season for Loyola-Chicago. Goodhart elected to transfer after the season and landed at UNT in May.
